This Slack workflow was created to manage practitioner shift cancellations with two main goals:

1. Enforce operational discipline by escalating urgent changes to the appropriate lead (Dr. Matt) and capturing structured details for internal scheduling
2. Protect practitioner privacy by avoiding public visibility of sensitive absence requests

Previously, shift cancellation requests were posted in semi-public channels, exposing potentially sensitive information (e.g., medical issues, personal emergencies) to other clinicians. This workflow ensures that only internal operations staff see these requests in a private channel: #air-traffic-control-crew.

• Responses from the workflow are not posted publicly
• All submissions are routed only to the internal ops team
• Urgent requests go directly to Clinical Director (via Slack DM or alert)
• This protects practitioners' privacy while still maintaining visibility for those who need it

✅ Smart Routing Based on Urgency

• Standard Shift Change (≥48 hrs notice)
  • Details logged privately for follow-up
  • Clinic(s) affected captured via multi-select
• Urgent Shift Change (<48 hrs)
  • Practitioner is required to write a message directly to Dr. Matt explaining the reason and urgency
  • Request is immediately escalated
